Finding Balance in Life

When Julia and I decided to work together in the New Year, I immediately imagined a year where together we would share what we know in the areas of health and fitness to help others on their journeys to make lasting lifestyle changes. You know those changes that stick and make you feel great from the inside and out. It is more than just the scale (although a bonus) it’s about your mindset and focusing on your well-being. Together, I know we can make a difference.

In a world that seems to pass by so quickly, we tend to forget that we need to take time to nurture our bodies and souls. We forget that it is okay to pause and to reflect on how we would like to change our lives, and then take the time to make those changes. We are always in fast forward and always looking back at what it is that we didn’t take time to fit into our busy lives. Always regretting not having spent the 15 mins or 30 mins that day to go to the gym, go for a walk or simply pack a healthy lunch. Sound familiar? And what’s funny is that even though I am working to help moms and women more generally to set aside that time for them, I struggle with this on almost a daily basis.

I am making a conscious effort in the year to come to refocus my goals and refocus my priorities. I think I forgot that in all the time caring and sharing for others, I forgot to take care of myself. This is why we have named our 6 week wellness program, “A New You all Year Round.” And I hope that through helping others recognize the need to make these important changes in their overall well-being I too can learn. For me there is one simple answer to “my why”. My “why” is my little girl and my family.

There isn’t a real big difference between what we plan to do and what those other like-minded moms are offering. But what’s important to me is my little one…

What’s important to me is making healthy changes in our body and mind makes us approach those in our lives in a positive and uplifting way. It changes how we handle stress; work life balance and all our lives have to throw in our way. Setting aside the time to do something for you, shouldn’t make you feel guilty it should make you feel proud. It should make you proud that you are demonstrating to your family, your children and all those in your lives that you find balancing important. You find being a strong, literally a strong role model to your children as important and valuable lessons to instill at an early age.

I want to be a role model to my daughter, a mama who teaches her children the importance of a healthy mind and body. I am an everyday mama that leads by example not only a daily basis, but in terms of my outlook on my life and my family’s life.

If you want to join us on a 6 week Wellness Journey, where we help you on a daily basis find time to move (5 exercises combining strength, cardio and yoga), eat nutritionally and balance your life sign up here!
